Lord Aragorn Elessar671/Miniature Gallery

Edit this page (last edited May 12, 2005)

Just so I don't have to repeat it, sorry about the pictures not being very clear.

The one, the only, mounted King Aragorn.

The Warg Attack Aragorn on horse.

Gandalf the White

Gandalf the White on Shadowfax

Gandalf the Grey. I painted him with a lighter colour scheme than is suggested, to represent his staff being alight.

Khazad-Dum Gandalf. I am kinda proud of this model ( I dotted the eyes!).

The Three Hunters (Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli).

Mounted Boromir

Mounted Faramir. I think this model turned out really well.

Mounted Theoden

Theoden on foot. I Love that armour

Wood Elven Standard Bearer from the Heroes of Helms Deep Boxed Set

My based and painted WOMT with Captain and Standard bearer. Still 12 WOMT to come.

A 2nd age man of Gondor. I painted this a long time ago now, wrong colours.

Haldir with some of my High Elves. The elf with red cape (not haldir, the other one) is my converted captain.

A Rider of Rohan

Six of my Warriors of Rohan

A Rohirrim archer

My Citadel Guard finally painted. I painted them using this guide, except with a few changes: http://www.thelastalliance.com/index.php?pid=article&articlefilename=paintingcitadelguard&catid=1&subid=2&artilceid=376

The four famous hobbits, Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin

The King of the Dead. I decided I would give him a red cape.

Radagast the Brown

Rangers of Gondor

Finally a new pic, this time it's Saruman. Not a great piece of painting in my opinion (paint wouldn't stick to the model)

Here's Boromir on foot!

=====comments=====

great job on the men of minas tirith and gandalf as well - keep it up - a small point that i suppose i could make is the stars on the sheilds of the MofMT? - it requres a steady hand but if u kinda drybrush the stars on the sheild with the SIDE of your brush i find it works well on 2nd age MOG's i hope it works for u too happy collecting !

---Lord Glorfindel

Thanks for the comment. By the way the third age gondorians do not have any stars on them.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar 671
Nice Models. I envy you for having so many, like Theoden on foot and Gimli. Meh, ill be getting them in half a year, so I'm Ok. Ur pics are (( very )) blurry though, so I dunno what happened. I guess thats just life.

Neix J

The camera I used is only 5 mega pixels is one of the problems

- Lord Aragorn Elessar 671

5 mp is huge. I doubt it is the mp's that is the problem, more likley to be focus & lense quality, or camera censor quality, or even just the cameras capability. I have a camera phone that is only 70k that takes a slightly better picture (not much better). I have seen 1.3 mp cameras that take great, near perfect, closeup shots.

-The Precious
Meh, I dunno all this mumbo jumbo about cameras. BTW, Lord Aragorn, I fixed up ur mix up with the Wood Elf Standard Bearer and THeoden on foot. Unless thats how you wanted it, in that case change it back.

Neix J
I just discovered the problem. The camera isn't set on best camera quality lol.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

Just a thought but you could see if your camera has a 'macro' mode on it for close up, chances are this would let you get the focusing to work better for close ups.

-Kaliska

In the last few days I found a trick that will improve the photos of cameras that don't do "macro" or "micro" photos (mine was as blurry as these before). If you take the photos through a magnifying glass they become much clearer. I'm not sure if it changes the focus (i.e. adds a lens) or just that you can photograph images that are further away (within the focus point of the camera) and just made larger by the glass. -The Precious

That sounds like a great idea. I have completely overhauled my gallery and now everything should be better. Can you say 'Au revoir, see ya, bye bye, goodbye fuzziness?'

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Nice Pics! I am thinking of stealing them and using them as my own.. Oh Damn! I wasn't supposed to say that outloud!

Neix J

I did by frodo and legolas pics through a magnifying glass too, it's not perfect but much better than before.

-King Of Gondor

You have done some really great work here. I particularly like the King Aragorn, Gandalf the White, and the Men of Minas Tirith. Those faces inide the helmets and the trees on the shields are tricky little mongrels to do, and you have done them well.

-The Precious

Hey, can you help me out? I need a (basic) guide for painting Aragorn the King.

If you can make one, just leave a message to me on my page at Neix J, 'K?

Neix J

Thanks every one for the comments. Sorry I am late replying but have been taking an absence from the website. Neix J I was going to write a painting guide for TLA but the photo's from during the painting process are worse than the ones you see on this page (and I posted some of these on TLA, only to be told that they were too fuzy and that they had been deleted!) so I will not be submitting a guide to tla, but if I have the time I will create a new page here on how to paint King Aragorn.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

Hey, I'm going to GW next weekend to paint mine and I will write down the painting guide and hopefully take some pics with my dads GOOD cam because my ones got REAL BAD focus so I can't take pics of minis with...

-King Of Gondor

Which GW are you going to ? If it's GW Wellington and you need help definately ask Nathan ( the General Manager, and also my cousin) for hints. He's a great painter.

Lucky having a GW Manager 4 a cousin... do you get discounts? No, I'm going to GW Queen St. because it's the closest! (by far) Because I live on the North Shore and im pretty sure you would hardly ever go to GW anyway because your're in Havlock North!!

-King Of Gondor

Nah, no discounts here mate. I don't even know if he gets discounts. I only go to GW 4-5 times a year at the most :(, but when I do I spend th whole day there from opening to around closing time

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

Man thats unlucky about the discounts... Oh, well. And you wouldn't go there much because its so far away aye? It's like 2-3 hours or sumthin aye? It only takes me 10mins to get there! At least we dont live in Invacargil aye mate?

-King Of Gondor

To be sure. 3 weeks until my next GW Visit. By the way I should have some pics of Citadel Guards and Rangers of Gondor sometime soon.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Are Citadel Guards differnt to Fountain Court Guards?

Neix J

That'll be nice to see. I don't think there are any pics of them on here actually!

-King Of Gondor

To answer your question Neix J, yes citadel guards are different to the guards of the fountain court. The rules for citadel guards can be found in the siege of gondor supplement.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Different Eh? Which ones are better (As in which ones have higher point values / or if point values are incorrect which one is better alround?)

Neix J

Guards of the fountain court cost 2 more points than a citadel guard, and all they get extra is one defence point, whereas the citadel guard can take a longbow (equivalent to an elvish bow). So in my opinion citadel guards are better

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Really? Woo! Im thinking i like these citadel Guard... Hey, do you know if Rangers of Gondor have longbows?

Neix J

The pics are kinda fuzzy but I can tell your moddels are great. You must put alot of work into them.

Wise Wanderer

Yes, unfortunately I have had a lot of trouble with camera focus. And thank you very much for the compliment. Some of my models take me 3 hours or so to paint, but that's just the characters, for example painting king aragorn took me around 2 and a half hours to paint (mind you I was writing down notes so that I could write a painting guide for him, which can be found at Miniatures/Painting/HowToPaintKingAragornOnHorse?). Uruk-hai take me about 15-20mins each.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Hey neix J rangers just have a normal bow

- Citadel Guard

Citidel gaurd have long bows

Wise Wanderer
Rangers? Normal Bow? Dang...

Neix J

Yep. Oh well, they still hit easier than other basic humans

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

I have deleted some extra photo's to make room in my photobucket folder. New pics probably within the fortnight.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Excellent....

Neix J

I have added pics of Citadel Guardsmen.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Can't wait to see more of your minatures

Whitehand

Your wish is my command, Whitehand! I've just added 2 new pics, though I've also had to get rid of 2. The new ones are the Rangers and The Wo MT Spearmen, along with a MT Standard bearer.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
You have really great painting skills LAE, but... You should finish your models of by basing them. Its not an ardous task that takes months, and it just provides a really great finish to them, making them look all supa-spiffy and ready for play.

Neix J

Awesome!!!

Whitehand

Thank you so much the two of you. Neix J, I am going to base them but unfortunately the local store that sells GW stuff doesn't have flock in very often. But I am going to GW Wellington for the day with my cousin on either Sunday or Monday ( 3hr drive from my house :)) while I'm visiting my nephew, so I will be basing them once I've got flock.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Thats good! Take good care of your nephew! We won't miss you! Oh crud, I wasn't sposed to say that! Damn!

Neix J

I'll probably still come on. By the way I just put up a new pic of Faramir.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Upon experimenting with Adobe Photoshop I've managed to improve the quality of one of your photos a bit :):

-Elvenknight009

I found out the stats of the mumakil. Here they are

F S D A W C pt:275
3 9 8/10 3 10 2

Oh year I think your a pretty good painter.

-Whitehand

Added Gandalf of Khazad-Dum

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

At the moment i am replacing all my pictures, so do not be alarmed when they are missing.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

Thats ok. btw i like ur khazad dum gandalf

-King Of Gondor
YAY! Nice Khazadum Gandalf - I did the eyes on mine two, but they look horribl. But Im to scareded to change them cause Ill wreck all the rest! WAHAHAHA!

Neix J

New pics are up. New models include King of the Dead and Radagast the Brown.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
WOW! I Luv Your New Miniatures They're Amazing! And You Did A Great Paint Job! Can'y Wait To See More Pics From Ya! P.S I Used That Little Eye Trick For Gandalf & Now He Look Great! Thanx For the Idea!

-Captain_Of_Gondor?
Thanks for the compliments. That's good that the eye trick worked.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Sweet... I did my Dead Easy-Peasy

Neix J

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671

Neix J
I Luv Your New Saruman & Citadel Guards I Can't Wait to see More Work From You!

-Captain Of Gondor

If you want a tip for cheap models, dont go to gamesworkshop, if its in BGi ME, back order it, ive got 52 gondor dudes for half price that way,

By the way, I’ve been playing on this mint text based internet game called Kingsofchaos at kings of chaos .com, If you click on the link below, you guys can become my officer and you can get soildiers and robb other armies, over 200 000 people play in total its great, just click on the link below and follow the instructions to become myofficer http://www.kingsofchaos.com/recruit.php?uniqid=se7yxuc5 It says im only ranked 12000 out of 200 000 but actually, most of my stats are ranked 1500! Its a really addictive gaem and great! UGLUK1000

If i could do that ugluk I probably would backorder, but were only up to issue 15 in my country and i've got enough of all those models. I'm not really interested in playing a text based game, but thanx for telling me anyway, and Neix J and Cap'n thanx for the comments.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Love your King of the dead

-Whitehand
Its a sheme, the king of the dead isnt really a great model for games...

Neix J

Thanks Whitehand, and Neix J don't underestimate the power of terror when used against low courage orcs. And also if the king of the dead actually manages to win afight, he can be pretty deadly.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Oh, I agree, the deads High defense and courage and terror are great, but him having two attacks would work well.

Neix J

And a bit of might would help too.

-Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Yeah, definetly. Hes the only Dead Hero and he kinda sux apart from courage, defense and Blades of the Dead.

Neix J

Yeah, suppose that's right. Anyway, i've just put up a new pic of Boromir on foot.

Lord Aragorn Elessar671
Hmm... You Boromir is great, only I would suggest perhaps a lil more highlighting on the cloak.

Neix J

wow u are so good at painting A+++

legionar of the eye
