yep a needle works best -MACE
I tend not to paint the eyes with that much detail, but when I do, I use this guide that I found on Dr. Faust's Painting Clinic:

I don't have very much experience, yet I will share my thoughts regardless. I use the smallest brush I can buy from an art store... it is a 10/0 brush. I paint a very small dot of white, then a tiny, tiny dot of black for the direction the eyes should be looking. It takes alot of practice yet I think it looks great.

I use a fine detail brush to paint the white of the eyes, then wait for that to dry and paint the black dots using the same brush. Then paint over any bits which have excess black on with whatever flesh colour you use

I find it easy if u concentrate hard on the job (no radio etc.) if u use a fine brush; just paint the eye area black, then a white <> shape, and then a dot where the model should be looking. The black area at the beginning adds depth to the models eyes and makes it look better (imo).
